Adapting and Adopting Web-based Materials for Business English Classes
Materials are one of the sources that lead to successful performance in the business world, therefore the appropriate selection is a crucial part of effective pre-course and ongoing planning since it conditions the presentation and exploitation stages and ultimately promotes language learning in business contexts.
This 6-hour workshop was designed as a final assignment for TBE online course, sponsored by the Office of English Language Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U. S. Department of State.
The goal of this workshop is to share what we have learned in TBE with our colleagues.
Target audience:
General EFL teachers who intend to specialize in teaching English for business purposes.
Objectives:

Reflect on the relevance of CLT in the Business English setting.
- Develop TBE professional skills a business English teacher needs to have in the preparation of business English classes.

Introduce teachers to materials used in business English teaching.
- Develop criteria to evaluate both ready made and authentic web-based materials to be used in the actual delivery of a BE class.
- Discuss strategies to adapt authentic web-based material to thir particular teaching stituation or level of their students.
